Funds to provide police protection were authorized by a vote of the people in November 2002. The Clayton Township Police Department began operations on January 1, 2003 under the direction of Police Chief Chuck Melki.

The Clayton Township Police Building is located on the southeast corner of the municipal grounds and shares a parking lot with the township hall.  The beautiful building and grounds were built and made possible due to the many generous donations from area residents, businesses and contractors.
